Heather Leslie Hammer

My name is Heather Leslie Hammer.  I welcome you to St. John’s.  I think you’ll find us to be a friendly church, building community and serving Christ in Rohnert Park and around the world.

I was appointed to serve here July 1, 2009.  Before that, I was Associate Pastor at San Ramon Valley United Methodist Church in the East Bay for 3 years.  I entered the ministry as a second career, having first been a high school teacher.  I earned a B.A. from the American University in international studies and an M.A. in education from the University of Maryland.  Along the way, I studied in Austria and Switzerland and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Chuk, Micronesia.  In 2002, I answered a call to ministry and completed seminary with a Master of Divinity degree from Pacific School of Religion in 2006.
I am a life-long Methodist. I am married to Jim Hammer, a theoretical physicist, and we have 2 young adult children, Joseph (Sepp) 28 and Leslie 25.  In addition to preaching, worship, and music, I am passionate about issues related to the Church and society.
