We are a growing church with about 65 in worship at 10:30 am each Sunday. At 9:00 am we have a Sunday school program for adults with Bible study and interactive discussion. During worship you'll find quality childcare for preschool children. Ashley Forrer, our childcare staff person, cares for infants and preschool children during the 10:30 am service, where they read Bible stories, play, and practice sharing. School-aged children are welcome to stay in worship. We have activity bags if they wish to draw or write about the theme of the service.
The mission of The United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
The vision of St. John's United Methodist Church is to
- Invite openly and accept all persons
- Commit ourselves to social justice, outreach, and interfaith cooperation
- Grow spiritually as individuals and as a community through education and worship
St. John's started in 1979 when a small group of people wanted to make a difference in Rohnert Park. Our first pastor, Rev. John Kienitz, still worships with us as Pastor Emeritus. Each year new members join. Today we are more diverse than ever, welcoming people regardless of age, ethnicity, socio-economic level, or sexual orientation. We strive to be true to our United Methodist heritage that says, "The world is our parish," and we take out motto seriously: "Open hearts, open minds, and open doors."
